First Caramel Apple

It must be autumn already.

It’s the first time that I find

Caramel and candy covered

Apples at the corner store.

They’re delicious, delightful, and delectable.

They are enjoyable and pleasurable.

They are scrumptious and juicy sweet.

I couldn’t wait to eat my caramel apple.

To have that mouthwatering first bite.

But sadly I ended up breaking my front teeth.

Pumpkins

I went pumpkin picking with my cousin’s children

And stumbled upon something that I’ve been missing

A pleasant place full of families

Lots of little kids running around

Pumpkin patches and haystacks all over the site

In a chilly day perfect for a hayride

Through the cornfield maze

Finally finished foraging for food

At a farm far away from home

Daydream

I’m trying to change

An attempt to be anyone else

Aware that that’s not actually achievable

I just want to make you proud

Maybe that’s just a childish delusion

And dreams don’t truly come true, do they?

But it’s not just for you

It’s for me too

Hoping it will make me happy

Fantasyzing that I’ve found my calling

And what if I fail?

A fear like I’ve never felt before

Back to School

I need to work hard and get some grades to As.

So I really shouldn’t miss any more days.

They say that it’s important.

But I wish I were buoyant

And could sneak out into the hallways.

I really don’t want to be in school.

All these long, dull lectures make me drool.

The teacher is a bore.

I can’t stand this much more.

I rather go jump in the pool.

Love

When the workday is over and I get home alone

I wait for you as I have my coffee and write

I still can’t stop thinking of you; maybe I’m not all right

Because when the door opens, it still speeds up my heart

You’re making me feel so really silly

And I know that this sounds pretty corny

But being with you is the best part of my day

And hopefully you also feel the same way

Regrets

Haven’t seen you in a while.

Thought you were buried where there is no coming back.

Here you are.

I’ve been meaning to tell you that you aren’t welcome.

This place is sacred, personal, mine.

Never come back, this is no place for the wicked.

Interruptions are unacceptable.

That is my life.

Six years dissolved by you.

Behind the wall that held me up.

Shame and anger reign supreme.

The mirror.

The bite marks.

The climax.

His ring and the shirt you left behind.

The Common Cat

Her appearance is deceiving.

She’s a fluffy, furry feline with a pretty purr and big, bright, brown eyes more beautiful than my own.

Sometimes she can be a real best friend. She’s cuddly, caring, and even full of fun at times. She’s gentle and graceful. She’s laid back and lazy. She’s a clever, crafty, and curious creature.

Other times she can be greedy and grumpy. She can be mischievous and moody.

She is always waiting patiently. When the time is right, without any doubts or regrets, she’ll attack my feet when I’m walking her way.

24 Years

For twenty four years I’ve been

Pacing these four walls,

Often contemplating if

I’ve cried twenty-four thousand tears.

Twenty-four years waiting to die.

I envy Lady Plath for getting it

Right third try.

Thrice I’ve tried,

Miserably failed.

I’ve plotted countless times,

Thoughts, they’ve remained,

Waiting on my time,

Praying it to be sooner rather than later,

Cut short, knowing it won’t be.

Ready when it strikes,

Foolish me.

Twenty four years I’ve been pacing these four walls…..

Inside my mind.

The View

Atop a mountain I saw the village where all my dreams came true,

Once upon a time.

The sun shined bright over the soft grassy rolling hills.

Tall trees, distant and faint,

Like an army of ants scattered in madness in a still image.

Tiny hut houses lined aside faint brick roads.

Too far to see people, but close enough for the nostalgia.

This rock where I sit shows my previous life,

Where I came from.

The place where all my dreams came true,

Once upon a time.
