Helpingless Hands

Sometimes it appears that in this, Our Great Land,

people offer a finger instead of a hand.

Oft’ willing to help if it don’t cost a thing,

and maybe to vote if they’re tossed enough bling.

Even so, the best people outnumber the bad

but the news ain’t about them, and that’s pretty sad.

So where in the milleu do you take a seat?

Perhaps on your own—man’s reflexive retreat.

Or maybe, like me, you might write witty verse

in hopes things gets better instead of just worse.

If I knew the answers, I’d fix them right now

but I don’t, so I won’t. Least I tried, anyhow.
