Food has an expiry,

which tells you, in theory,

when odors are dreary

“Don’t eat me, my dearie!”

For what’s past its prime

(as I’m sure you thought I’m)

may consume you if eaten,

(from inside through skinside)

thus clearly defeatin’

your appetite’s gumption,

reversing consumption

(decay sans delay—

you’ll be gone in a day).

What should have been good

did whatever it could

to alter your health,

since you tossed aside stealth

when deciding to chew.

Denouement: It eats you.
