Whatever You Bring

No matter your beliefs about the origin of our world, it is undeniably full of amazement. For some, the amazement rises to the height of miracles. But however we define the amazement, it's undeniable that on most days we  overlook the beauty and take the amazement for granted. But sometime, for reasons we might not fully understand, our eyes are opened to how extraordinary the world we live in is.This was one of those days for me.

I woke up this morning, and the first thing I noticed

was the sun still shining in the sky.

And as I pondered that unsung miracle,

I watched a hawk circling high in the sky.

It brought to mind something David said in the Bible,

Something that until now, I didn't fully understand:

"The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of his hands." (Psalm 91:1)

And suddenly, I saw miracles all around me;

Miracles that, until now, I just took for granted.

It laid bare my hubris for believing

my world should be whatever I demanded.

So, Lord, today I kneel in prayer

Asking for only one thing.

Keep my eyes open to Your miracles,

And make me grateful for whatever You bring!
