Unnoticed Valentine

If love is real,

tell me how to feel.

If nothing gold can stay,

remain a worthless memory

of what could have been

had she arrived for a dinner date.

She didn’t see me waiting,

but I saw her dining with him over wine

at a diner where I’d made reservations,

with little reservation.

I slipped into a depression

over a girl known only in my dreams.

She was there, and I was near.

I’m the only one here,

waiting for her to notice me.

“You waiting for someone?” you said,

sitting beside me.
