Justice Found

On the quest for justice...

————

…Justice found

In books and laws?

A lawyer’s office

The courthouse halls?

Can Justice live

On cold, hard streets?

Shackled with handcuffs

In prison keeps?

May Justice stand

With rights deprived?

Where bigotry, hatred

And fear all thrive?

Or is Justice

To be found

In hope, compassion

And love unbound?

Oh, pray that Justice

Be found in trust

And that I am part

Of life made…

Sweat

This is a short crime piece I wrote, which is a departure from my usual suspense!

————

…steam was especially thick. It was the kind of steam that made you wish that you had gills instead of lungs. It was the perfect steam to melt the toxins out of large, subcutaneous bodies. One such beluga sat, piled on the tile bench leaning his Grecian mane against the dripping wet wall behind him, a thick gold chain draped across his chest, a white towel loosely covering his less-than-impressive unmentionables that were pasted by sweat onto the cool tiles of the…

Justice

…day has come and the jury is set,

The attorney presents his argument,

The jurist is clear on the premises,

The hopes of both parties now hanging on promises.

Court? Echoes through the room

As the judge's throat goes vroom

Like truck- he reads the verdict,

"After considering all evidence presented, the jury convict..."

Now this is the case with us,

Mountain Justice

…had heard it more times than he cared to. Ted this, Ted that. Well, where the hell was Ted? he thought. Ted was the savior, the new director who would change things and turn them all into geniuses. After the last financial report we were told we were geniuses, he recalled. So why would they even consider a new boss?

“I have just received a call from Ted,” the Chief Of Operations announced over the intercom. What miraculous deed has the Mighty Ted performed now? Bob thought sarcastically. “It appears Ted has opted for a position with another firm. He…

Just, In Time

A folk-style song lyric, longing or justice in an unjust world...

————

…world spins around us

Hatred fills the land

People denied basic human rights

Bigotry and fear reign

Is the end at hand?

Burning torches blaze against the night

Though things seem their darkest

Justice will hold sway

And the guilty will pay for their crimes

There will come a reckoning

Truth shall find its way

And all wrongs will be made just

In time

While hope may be fleeting

Freedom’s light grows dim

Evil casts its shadow ‘cross our minds

Virtue may yet triumph

Goodness can still…
