Spinning! An Everyhuman Playlet set in time

Player 1: Running across stage:

“Time is a fleeting thing.”

Player 2: Crossing stage in a state of angst:

“Will it never end!”

Player 3: In Wizard costume, crossing stage:

“No such thing as time.”

Player 4: In Einstein character and costume:

“Time is relative.”

Player 5: Child, holding up sign center stage: June Gloom! Dear Santa, why’s Christmas such a long time away? emotes:

“Time stands still!”

Player 6: Crosses stage in a rush:

“Time waits for no-one.”

Player 7: Crosses stage in obvious distress:

“I’m running out of time.”

Player 8: Runs onto stage, grabbing hold of Player 7’s arm before he/she exits:

“Have you the time?”

Player 7: Reacts in blatant exasperation as they exit stage.

Player 9: Crossing stage looking lost:

“Time got away from me!”

Player 10: Crosses stage- butterfly net at the ready:

“Time flies!”

Player 11: Crosses stage, weeping into handkerchief:

“Lost time is never found again.”.

Player 12: Crosses stage, darting about as if very lost:

“Lost in time.”

Player 13: Professor, shaking finger at audience to make the point:

“Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.”

Player 14: Wall Street person addresses audience from center stage:

“Time is money.”

Player 15: Young adults skip across stage declaring in unison:

“We have all the time in the world.”

Player 16: Group of older people pushing a gurney with younger person on it: In unison (Group + Gurney person:)

“Time is running out!”

Player 17: Ballerina twirling across stage:

“The clock’s ticking!”

Player 18: Writer (Faulkner make-up and costume) crosses stage making notes with pen and paper:

“Clocks slay time!.”

Stage stands empty and, for a few beats, silent.

Voice Booms from off-stage:

“Time’s up!”

All players enter the stage from all entrances, all sides, front and back. They skitter about exclaiming:

“No!”

They stop, gather center stage and. in unison, address the audience:

“Where’d it go?”
