Sinking

I remember in his better days

Nothing deterred him

He accepted challenges

As stepping stones

And springboards

To jump to a higher level 

He always had confidence

He would overcome the obstacles

Now wearied by repeated defeats

He has lost his stamina

Gone is his gallantry

He now deems life a struggle

And gives up fighting 

Trying to escape 

He entangles with bottles 

Drifting into an oblivious world

Deeper and deeper 

He sinks into the mire 

Reality is a pitiless ghost 

Will not leave him alone
