Don't Let Me Keep Slipping Away

When love is slipping away, we want to believe that if we wait patiently and love fiercely, we can bring our partner to want what used to be. But the truth is that unless both parties want to fix what's broken, it cannot be fixed.

Please don’t let me keep slipping away

Don't let me stop needing you.

The fire is growing colder each day.

And I don’t know what to do.

I cling tightly to old memories

Of how intensely we loved and cared.

I knew then how much you needed me

And all of the passion we shared.

But now you’ve grown so distant

Denying your need with the space.

Building a wall to protect your heart;

Creating distance to keep me in place.

Well, I remember when you still had room for me.

When we shared our love and our trust.

We were truly invincible then.

And the world seemed made just for us.

Maybe we can’t recapture those days

Or our dreams as they used to be.

Maybe we can never go back to a time

When Love made our hearts feel free.

But I know we can still work together

To find new dreams and make them come true.

Dreams that will keep me from slipping away

Allow me hold on to my need for you.
