Cause and Effect

It’s true that history may judge

Our acts and their consequences

That action may be hard

And that recognition and reward

May be deferred

But in truth

The world’s needs

Are in this moment

What we do today

Has immediate effect

And it is in the present

Where immediate effect is required:

To care for those who are suffering

To right wrongs

To instill justice

Do not be concerned with the verdict of history

Do not do what is merely expedient

Do not act with expectation of reward

Act

To give care

To do right

To bring justice

History will look kindly upon the result

The results will outweigh the effort

And the effect will be its own reward
