Butterfly Transformation

Growing up, I always wanted to fly.

As a child, I even gave it a try.

Watching the butterflies by the hour.

I would flap my arms, hoping to soar.

Their beauty was an inspiration.

My humanness was an inhibition.

As a teen, I learned that butterflies were free.

My turbulent family was crashing around me.

I wanted to ride with the monarchs.

I wanted to salute the red admirals.

Dare I become a painted lady?

Should I strut like the peacock butterfly?

Butterflies are symbols of joy and hope.

There was no time to sit and mope.

As I aged, my life transformed.

Like a butterfly, I was reborn.
