Awakening

We long for awakening

Consciousness beyond the veil

Visions of the larger reality

A sense of that beyond temporal comprehension

As looking through a window

At sunlit glade beyond

Verdant trees, rainbowed visages 

Snow-capped mountain vistas cottoned with clouds

Azure butterflies flitting amongst pastel petals

All contained in a single raindrop

Coalescing into a crystalline snowflake

Melting to nourish tomorrow’s dawn

Knowing that though separate

We are part of all that is

And it all that is us

Achieving new planes

From the shadowed images of the mortal world

Knowing they are present

Yet just beyond reach

An imperfect, unfocused vision

Filled with wonder and longing

Passion and contentment 

Finally, passing through a door

Entering into a spiritual oneness

Breath as wind

Tears as rain

Drums the slow cadence of heartbeat

Knowing, at last

The limitlessness of the possible

The fullness of infinity

Passing as though from a dream

To Awakening
