Three Generations

My grandmother with bound feet  

Could hardly step out of her house  

Her activities were greatly restricted   

Her world was so small  

She depended on her family  

For her living  

My mother grew up  

With unbound feet   

Walked to school and became educated  

She followed the traditional value                           

And was satisfied to be a housewife                               

She could not be financially independent    

In my generation   

I was free to go out 

And learned to be independent

I chase my goal in society   

I can make my own choices                                     

Three generations  

With very different life journeys                               

I am lucky to live in the present                      

To enjoy the fruit of feminism
