The Undisciplined

Good to be a disciplined creator I suppose

So I set rules to follow for my poetry creation

Getting up at sunrise to compose

Working until sunset without cessation

I can sit at my desk all day long

Pondering on a theme without progress

Then when sleeping, inspiration comes on strong

Forcing me to give up my nightly recess

While driving on a busy highway

A good line for a poem dawns on me

When I can write it down, the idea has gone astray

Lost like a raindrop falling onto the sea

All I can do is to wait for ingenuity to alight

Like a fisherman awaits a fish to bite the bait

I will catch whatever I can without a fight

When my rules of discipline begin to abate
