The Real Treasure

The real treasure

Is not to have a big castle

with lavish gardens and hundreds of rooms;

not even to have chests full of crowns,

gold and sparkling jewels.

The real treasure

is not in having collections of luxurious cars

or gilded with gold luxury yachts;

not even in happy lottery win.

The real treasure is within you, inside.

The beats of your heart start

before you take your first breath;

so, treasure its pulse.

You do not even remember

the first kiss from your mom as newborn,

but your heart remembers all -

the first letter to write;

the first fall from the bike;

the first hike on the top to the mountain

and the first time you get close to the sky.

Your heart remembers

the first dental appointment,

the first moment you fall in love,

the first disappointment

from the best friend or significant one.

Your heart gathers all the tears of joy

and stores them in its beating chambers.

Your heart remembers

every pleasure and pain,

every bad thing and good one, too.

Don’t abuse its loyalty to you

and take good care for this TREASURE.
