The Fire We...
/The Fire We Have to Treasure
Given as gift from the sky
in a long-distance pre-historic time,
fire is still the biggest treasure of all.
Gods threw a burning thunder,
it touched the ground and an ancient man
grabbed a stick in his hand.
With a flame the civilized journey began
from warming and cooking in caves
all the way to steam-powered trains
and launching rockets in open space.
With cheerful sparks humans celebrate,
worship and chant in shamanic trance.
We need fire to procreate ourselves,
slush and burn for crops, and cook food.
With strong hands and flames
men weave metal into glorious art.
Olympic torch leads the games.
Creating fire separates us a part
from the other apes.
But something went wrong
with overheated human brains.
Where our civilization goes?
Fire was not given for wars.
