Is not merely an activity
Nor even a compulsion
But a way of life
An attempt to make order
Of the world around us
To find understanding
Meaning
Appreciation of beauty
Connection to the interrelated
unity of all that is
Sharing all we thus learn
With our fellows
In hopes of validating what we feel
And enabling others to feel it too
