Spectacular Starfall

Confession and conversation coupled with contemplation can rescue a relationship.

————

I headed out at nightfall.

It was cool, so I grabbed my shawl.

I walked for an hour to the mall.

My goal was to meet up with Paul.

We fought an uncharacteristic brawl.

It was worse than a gale-like squall.

All afternoon, all I could do was bawl.

I was so overcome, I felt like a rag doll.

As I sauntered along, a heard a bird call.

I looked up and observed a spectacular starfall.

The stars told me my life needed an overhaul.

When Paul came close, I confessed I was a goof ball.

I told him I was a spoiled Barbie doll.

He held me close and said he had a wake-up call.

The meteor shower spoke to him to stand tall.

“I confess that I’ve been acting like a Neanderthal.”

I pleaded: “Please forgive me for being a know it all.”

The shooting stars were our crystal ball.

It rescued our relationship from a free fall.
