Social Media - Friend or Foe? Is a poem that debates if social media is one's friend or not. There are two sides of the coin and this poem explores both the hurtful side and the helpful point of view. Maybe this type of communication is a bit of both, the good and the bad.

Is social media friend or foe

a question indeed I just don’t know,

for at times, it’s like a terminal illness,

a wicked cancer

one just can’t shake from his bones,

as he hides mobile communication

feeding an addiction,

getting high

from others attention.

Losing himself in a tangled web of lies

dangling in deleted messages

watching his inner world crumble,

shattering hearts in disbelief.

But there are two sides of the coin,

flip it over and behold,

a lifeline stretching across the globe,

where strangers help each other

pushing one pass that next struggle.

Where no one suffers alone,

offering a sympathetic ear,

describing first-hand knowledge

of the pain

those doctors just don’t tell,

tossing one a lifeline

he survives another day,

So, friend or foe,

I just don’t know,

perhaps a bit of both.
