Seeing You Again
/Seeing you again was such a delight
although my initial reluctance to meet you
was colored by previous experiences
where meeting old friends
felt like resurrecting the dead
who were happier where they now belonged
I did not expect much from our meeting
little did I know great things
often begin without dramatic announcements
I knew from the chemistry in our first hug,
chats, your shyness and avoidance of eye contact
that this was the beginning of a love story
how as kids we aspired to be so much
how circumstances have reminded us of our smallness
how time has scattered us
curing us of the hopes we harbored
as if they were diseases of bad omen
how the Mighty Hand of God lived in the chaos
finding you, finding me, finding us
bringing us together again after so many years
