For a couple hours, daylight graced the rural farming community, bringing a warming, loving feeling to the area. Inside the cottage kitchen, Momma cleaned the dishes, seeing outside the window Poppa release the Zebra into the field hoping the four-legged referee peacemaker would ponder life’s meaning.

“I hope Poppa remembers, to close the feed door, before coming back to the house,”

Suddenly, Paulie emerged, wearing athletic workout clothes and carrying a mat, “where are you going?” Momma inquired.

“Heading towards the woods,” Paulie answered, “Princess Lida has some mindfulness exercises she wants me to experience prior to classroom brain stimulation next week.”

“Well, okay, Paulie,” Momma wished him a good morning.

A few minutes later Poppa entered, “did you leave the feed door open?”

“Oh geez,” Poppa responded, reminded the cupboard barricade, needed shutting, “I forgot.”

Sitting perfectly straight, using the plastic protector as a base, and with the mid-day glistening upon dew drenched leaves, Paulie inquired, “Princess Lida, why are we in the forest looking like we are going to do a workout?”

“I want you Prince Paulie to embrace mindfulness exercises,”

“Why?”

“You are a young noble royal gentleman, and a tranquil attitude is a necessity.”

“I am a humble rich aristocrat,” Paulie defended.

“That too,” Princess Lida agreed, “now arms in the air and take a deep breath.”

Observing what he was doing Princess Lida continued, “stretch, suck it up, blow it out, and let the heavens pull you.”

Not even a minute passed, the two rested, “feel better?” Princess Lida checked.

“Actually, I do,” Paulie honestly answered.

Following their aerobic set, the two distanced themselves from the timber landscape, finding harmony in a gigantic flower field. “Now Prince Paulie,” Princess Lida advised, “take off your shoes.”

“Why?”

“We are going to immerse ourselves in nature and literally stroll through the flower bed.”

“Won’t we kill the arranged florals?”

“Not if your shoes are off,”

Agreeing it was a good reason, Paulie took off his shoes, gasped clean air, enjoying the healthy mindfulness state.

Seven days later Princess Lida sat next to Paulie, prepared for local civic history lessons, “how do you feel since our therapeutic engagement?”

“Great,” Paulie informed.

“Remember today, whatever the instructor says about our two families, the teacher was not there,” Princess Lida reminded, “suck it up, and blow it out.”

“But legends win wars,” a breezy voice behind them interrupted the royal conversation.

“Thank you, Becky Sue,” Paulie acknowledged.
