Ode To The Camel

I never wanted this life that's made me have to be strong,

But I did the best I could to make right all the wrong.

It was that one last straw that broke the camel's back.

Now he's only remembered for the load he couldn't pack.

I think I know how that camel felt all his life.

Born to carry the load, longing to be wildlife.

The load grew heavy though the weight stayed the same.

The pain made him stumble and filled him with shame.

Did the one loading him care to lighten his load?

No one said - rest sweet camel while I help you unload!

They just kept throwing those straws on his back,

till not one more straw could he bear to pack!

By this time he's crying and begging - please stop....

Nobody cared to believe it till they saw him drop.

Then they were crying and acting confused.

Too late for the camel, too broken, too bruised.

They couldn't believe that one straw did him in.

They said the loads made him stronger, able to win.

Easy to say when it's not your load to carry.

Standing by watching doesn't make you tired and wary.

I understand what that poor camel was feeling.

He was exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, head realing!

It wasn't that one straw that ended it all,

tho they all laughed at how one straw made him fall.

It was load after load after load that he carried each day.

No compassion or encouragement to help on his way.

He carried it proudly for as long as he could.

If he could've carried it forever, I know that he would.

But hes only one camel and carried more than his share.

Another example of how life is unfair.

Some camels got to live free and run wild.

He only knew work since he was a child.

Rest now sweet camel, your work here is done .

I Hope your next life gives you no labour, all fun!

You'll forever be remembered for the lesson you gave,

The straw That broke the camels back, a camel so sweet and brave.
