My Yin Yang Kin

From my first book, Death of the Suburb about my two children

————

My yin yang kin

Two peas in opposite pods

The fighter and the flow-er

Born of the same love

Just a few years apart

Cliffs at the coast

One raised high and immovable, steadfast and strong

One flowing in and out, with hidden depths and full of wonder

A Viking and a Jew

The Viking, fair and fresh

Storming in and forcing his will on you

The Jew, dark and joking

Trying to fit in and keeping everyone amused

The children a metaphor for their parents

Without one there wouldn't be the other

Here to teach us all to get along

And combine to make a new breed
