Mirror of My Soul

I removed my clothes, quietly

Laid them in a small pile

So anxious and excited, I was

For it's been quite a while

Just to lay next to you

A gentle touch, each to each

I'd lost hope this would happen

You've been so much out of reach

I've been given this moment

Though a dream, it may be

Sweet anticipation

Suddenly washed over me

I laid down beside you

Feeling completely at peace

The warmth of our bodies

Made any tension release

I wrapped my arm about you

Making sure you didn't stir

I said that I loved you

In the quietest whisper

I laid for the longest moment

Relishing our closeness

Needing nothing more from you

Than this feeling of oneness

In the distance, I heard seagulls

As waves rushed toward the shore

When my thoughts returned to you

You weren't there anymore

I was laying on a quiet beach

Of sand soft as powdered sugar

Lanquishing in this dream

Time slipped by in a cryptic blur

Thankful for the joyous moment

I had gleaned my precious goal

For the dreamed man I had laid with

Was the mirror of my soul
