Mind Your Parents

Respect or minding my parents was expected in my family home. I hope the world teaches their children to respect others.

————

We were taught to mind or obey our parents.

Did you ever wonder what would happen?

Would you get punished immediately?

It was an absolutely expected that we’d have a talk.

Would a tap on the bum come afterwards?

Could a “grounding” be in our future?

Most of the time we’d have a respectful conversation.

Do all families operate in this fashion?

Should I ask my friends what goes on in their homes?

I decided it was none of my business.

What if someone shared their punishment?

How would I react?

Unfortunately, one girl showed me her welts.

Should I tell an adult what she revealed to me?

Would respecting her private life be safe for her?

I decided to do what was best for me for my life.

Would I grow up to be a responsible adult?

How would I teach my own children respect?

For me, minding my parents taught me to value others.

Will our grandchildren teach their offspring in a similar manner?

Will our world move toward regarding others respectfully?
