Lasting Love

I've written poems for my daughters, my dog and friends, faith related poetry and humourous poems; then someone said, "what about your husband"? So, here it is. One for him, too.

In the spring of '89, our love did ignite,

Two souls entwined, in each other's sight.

Jeff, my high school sweetheart, my soul he set alight,

Together we've held each other's heart, never ever to part

Hand in hand, through the halls we'd roam,

Whispers of forever, our love had grown.

In your eyes, I found my home,

A bond so strong, God himself must have sown.

The years have passed, and our love still true,

How we've done it, I'll give a clue.

Through trials and joys, side by side,

Our souls are connected,

With God, we abide.

In May of '89, our story begun,

A tale of love that's never done.

You, my soul mate, my only one,

In your arms, my heart finds sun.

Through the decades, our love has multiplied,

We keep Jesus at the center to be our guide.

Our love, my dear Jeff, we cannot hide.

For in this journey, we've taken in stride,

Forever and always, by each other's side.
