Her Power

She was preordained for an unusual kind of life

A life prognosticated to be shorter and harder

Her slanted eyes, flat nose and short stature

Along with a malfunctioning heart

Tell why

Ensnared with the incurable condition

She was never embraced by full hope

Yet with her natural resilience

she survived a complicated heart surgery

And continues to thrive

Ostracized socially

The creator recompensed her with

A generous loving power which

Assuages her sensitivity to contempt

Encountered sometimes for her revealing facies

Blessed now in her adulthood

Without rancor toward her destiny

She just goes on gaily with her life

Her contagious laughter and

Endless zest for life
