Haunting Family
/For one family, haunting became a way of life. Because they were mistreated, they never forgot about those who were less fortunate.

Our family is hundreds of years old.
We once lived in a modest house outside the castle wall.
Our baked goods were prized by the royal family.
During an uprising, the royal family was killed.
The walls were tumbled and our villages were united.
New overseers were cruel and demanded high taxes.
Many of our families had a tough time paying taxes.
Our main source of income was cut off.
We were forced to become chefs for the new rulers.
After a few years of doing our best, we were executed.
Our spirits were not at rest and we chose to haunt.
Every night we entered their kitchens and took supplies.
Every morning the remaining villagers had food.
Over the years, that ruling class died out.
The new rulers were more considerate.
We chose to only haunt homes where cruelty existed.
Of course, we continued to bring goods to the needy.
Ghosts were we but we knew right from wrong.
