Grief For Dernah

A devastating flood was a crippling blow,

Lost hearts weep o'er family they'll never again know.

In Dernah the waters rose up and wreaked great despair;

The homes of many flooded, the sorrow shook the air.

The grief was palpable, it cut through the rain;

The trash piled high and it felt like such pain.

The lives of precious people swept away in a night,

With no time or warning, no chance of a fight.

The survivors' hearts strong but broken and sore,

The death of so many that they will never ignore.

It's a tragedy so deep of which none can compare,

Nowhere to go but inside to hold on and to bear.

Such a tragedy could not have been foreseen,

Yet the people of Dernah press on, now strong and keen.
