Depression Ends

Dare to give me helpful tips about what I should do;

Eliminate the sadness, and alleviate the rue—

Perhaps if I’d a better brain the blues would stay away:

Remaining distant memory upon a better day.

Endearing words; well meaning friends; it all ends up same.

Some days I rejoice, and some days sorrows come to stay.

So long ago I dreamt of death, away—escape the pain.

Instead I forged ahead and hung on, at times with disdain.

Optimism never was a suit in which I’m strong—

No matter, life is temporary; here and then we’re gone.

Endless times I’ve fought to stay medicinally sober;

No more I feign acceptance that perhaps till life is over, (with)

Doctors, pills, and affirmations I’ll endless contend, but

Sometimes the saddest humans make the best of friends.
