Created to Survive and Thrive

In the 1950s, preemie babies under four pounds rarely survived. This particular tiny girl not only survived but thrived and became a leader, like others in her family.

————

She was a preemie but created to survive,

She was as tiny as a mustard seed but ready to thrive.

Mother’s milk and oxygen strengthened her in the hospital,

Mother’s love toughened her to never be second fiddle.

She prospered though weeks of nurses and restless nights,

She flourished through colic, boy did she fight!

A strenuous start sparked her stalwart self,

A tiny tornado, sure of herself.

Her heritage was flock of fabulous females,

Her destiny was to be a leader, always blazing trails.
