Beware of the Heat

At any age, we need to be aware of the dangers of hiking in the heat. Prepare your journeys using lessons learned and logic.

————

We thought of ourselves as courageous and brave.

We can hike for hours in this horrendous heatwave.

“Joe, we can’t walk five steps in this serious screamer.”

“We’ll melt in minutes in this staggering scorcher.”

Joe kept spraying us with this giant water gun.

“Joe, stop it at once – this is no longer fun.”

“We need to pop into that cave and hydrate.”

Within a minute, Sue needed to help our mate.

Sam had fainted from the extreme heat.

Carrying our linebacker friend was indeed a feat.

We were able to get inside the cool cave.

Water from our bottles and the sky created a save.

Rested and refreshed, we headed out.

This time we hiked in shade and didn’t pout.

We learned to not tempt Mother Nature.

Journey next time using logic and acting mature.
