A Suburban Edgelord...

A Suburban Edgelord: The Danger of Isolation

A lost youth sat in a darkened room

before flat screens in suburban homes.

Anti-flag posters are stuck to beige

walls as his lips drift toward

the servants of chaos.

Middle-class reflection hid in memes

as he lurked on message boards for edgy posts.

The abominable has morphed into desensitized propaganda.

Mastering failure, like a manipulated algorithm,

distributes rage like a dealer on a shady street corner.

A ticker scrolls breaking news across the TV screen.

A mother covers her mouth in shock.

A father rushes to grab his collection of weapons,

ignoring the son he neglected.

The father screamed, “They’re gone!”

The mother trembled and fell to her knees.

An anchor points to images of their son.

Police had taken the child’s life before

another man fell.

Twenty people aren’t coming home

because of a child damned to the lie

of suburbia and no one to love.

The father embraced the mother,

and they felt love measured in pain.
