I loved you from the start,

From the first time that we met

The missed beat of my heart

Be assured I’m not upset

Though I’m on the final lap

Parenthood filled most of the gap,

 Since now and when we met

I spend my time without regret

Recalling the hallmark moment

Of a brief involvement 

That moment when we met
