A Green Carnivore

Unlike most plants

that draw substance from soil

the earth is merely your anchor

your appetite is for insects

A carnivore in green disguise

your bellies are goblets

holding venomous nectar

awaiting careless bugs

to wander into your traps

Slowly they dissolve

and turn into nutrients

for you to thrive and flourish

Your pitchers are their tombs

their doom your feast

Such innocent-looking plants

Such an intriguing adaptation

Of nature
