Talking in Circles

007/365

Often, people are too busy running their mouths, making judgments, and preparing arguments to LISTEN. Sometimes when you stop and  LISTEN you may realize that you're actually saying the same thing. This, my friends, is what i refer to as talking in circles. Clear communication is key....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1: I never asked you to love me.

2: No one ever asks to be loved. Even when they need to.

1: Why would you need to ask? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

2: So, you’re saying love is only valid if it is given without question?

1: Well yeah, if you must ask that probably means the person never really intended to give it to you in the first place.

2: I think consent to love should be given. Not everyone is ready and willing to give or take it. You should make sure the person is open to receiving what you’re offering before moving forward.

1: But then is it real love if you had to make a strategic decision to move forward with your feelings or leave them behind?

2: Is real love reasonable? Then yes. Does real love involve thinking about the other person’s feelings over your own sometimes? Then yes. Real love requires real thought, not just passion on a whim.

1: So, then you think about why you love me right?

2: Of course. Everyday.

1: And why is it that?

2: You know why I love you! I tell you all the time! You’re beautiful and smart, I’ve never met anyone like you. You make me so happy. I can’t stop thinking about you. You’re on my mind all the time and you make me a better person by just being in my life. Why can’t you see that?

1: What if I do see that? What if what I don’t see, is what’s in it for me?

2: In it for you? What are you trying to say? That I’m not good enough?

1: I didn’t say that. You listed all the things I do for you, how I make you feel, but you didn’t describe how it was mutual. Where is the part where I get loved the way I want to get loved?

2: Ugh. It’s never good enough for you. I give, give, give and you’re never satisfied.

1: But what are you giving me exactly??

2: My love!

1: I never asked you to love me.
