Wallflower Child

Wandering in this festive lonely room,

I witness uniqueness lose its sweetness

Within crowded mass reproduction.

Hey, you wallflower child,

Standing alone in the party’s shadow,

Watching this monotone fantasy

With secret-holding eyes eager to speak.

Tell me,

What do you think

Of this world trying to find

What side it’s on.

You look like you’re wearing words

That want to sing without a care in the world,

But fear and the past sew your mouth shut.

Bloom,

Wallflower child,

Open your petals

Strong and brave,

Shining wishing stars

In this monochrome darkness.

If you don’t want to step and sing

Into this abandoned spotlight,

That’s fine.

But can you please at least share

This awkward silence with me?
