Waiting For Equal Rights
/"Waiting For Equal Rights" is a poem about how we can't cause waves while waiting for equal rights because we must pay our bills.
————
They say my rights are equal
but I get lower pay,
they say there is no difference
but I’m the one who’s working a longer day.
It does no good to complain
I want equal pay,
because they’ll just dock me
In some way,
like saying I’m not needed for overtime that day.
I’ve got to pay my bills
so, there’s no choice
but to remain silent,
until the tides change my way.
