Waiting

I’m waiting for the weekend

When I can relax in warm sunshine

Enjoy blue skies

White clouds drifting

Green grass under my feet

Running and playing again like a child

Until then I’ll hang my head low

Trudging through the drudgery of life

Waiting for the weekend

I’m waiting for summer

When I can lie on golden beaches

Swim in emerald waters

Palm trees swaying

Gritty sand between my toes

Running and playing again like a child

Until then I’ll hang my head low

Trudging through the drudgery of life

Waiting for summer

I’m waiting for happiness

When I can smile and laugh and sing

Cast cares aside

Calmness settling

Peace suffusing my being

Running and playing again like a child

Until then I’ll hang my head low

Trudging through the drudgery of life

Waiting for happiness

“Get up!” Cries my heart

“Or you’ll wait forever!

“For every day is drudgery

“Until we confront and vanquish it!

“Run! Play!

“Be as a child again!

“Dance to the song of living

“Laugh and smile and sing!

“The only thing preventing

“Your weekend, your summer, your happiness

“Is your waiting!”
