Trusting Google Maps

Trusting Google Maps is a poem about using maps on your mobike phone to plan your vacation route.

Bags packed,

excitement in the air,

their vacation beginning 

trying to find the fastest route.

Tapping fingers away

on a trusted travel companion, 

letting Google maps lead the way

across country roads

towards the freeway,

taking them through places

they’ve never been.

It puts a handheld paper map to shame,

as it detours them around traffic jams,

shouts out when there’s a speed trap,

and sends alerts about accidents up ahead.

No one ever gets bored

traveling the same old path,

for it plans a different route

for the ride back.
