Trust: The Process

What is the process of trust?

How do we come to trust another?

Some would say

Trust until that trust is betrayed

Others

That trust must be earned

Still others

“Trust but verify”

All are ways of manifesting trust

None can be wholly said to be right

Or wrong

For achieving trust

Is less a process

Than a leap of faith

A willingness to put our welfare

In the hands of another

That faith may be based

On a belief in the good of humanity

Or demonstrated action

Or reassurance of its placement

So that in the end

The “process” of trust

Is found in the essence of our common humanity:

Hope -

That our trust will be justified

Our souls, vouchsafed

Our needs met

And our spirits fulfilled
