Timeless Love…
/Timeless Love: Reflections on a Decade Together
An opinion, please—don’t have one,
especially about us.
Get to know how deep your
flaws outweigh our odds
of lasting beyond September.
It’s okay to forget who you
are so you can see me the way
I see you—an angel, nothing less,
and everything worth more than
a priceless souvenir.
I hold an opinion; I’ve had it since we met.
It’s more of a resolute conclusion,
a conclusion that resonates within me.
The first day we met,
nestled beneath the sprawling branches
of an ancient maple tree,
I knew you were meant for me—you share
that opinion.
We’re still together ten Septembers later,
with a spitting image of you,
Wearing jeans and an oversized Nirvana shirt,
swinging on the tire swing.
