A Poem On 25 Years Of Internet In India

Those were the days,

When there were no emails…

The pride of owning a telephone,

Is lost somewhere in the trail..!

The show-off world we live in today,

The virtual friends who surround us now,

The playground within a 7-inch screen,

Were very much real back then, oh wow…!

There wasn’t a trend to send a ‘Friend Request’

A simply shake-hands would do it all!

The nostalgic world had everything real,

The only mysteries were Missed Calls!

The letters, even from your cousin’s aunt,

Were read with utmost interest,

Though the world now is on our fingertip today,

The classic world remains the best.

Talking about nowadays,

Geography has become a history!

Yes, the world has changed a lot!

By connecting people across the globe,

Immense happiness it has brought!

The diseases which were dreaded then,

Are treated with utmost ease!

With the ability to send video messages,

We can make our grandmas please!

The world has shrunk into a match-box and,

Across the boundaries, Ideas transcend!

The internet has advanced so much so,

That it can even make our coffees brew…

Be it the Genie of Aladdin’s lamp, or the wizards’ magic globe…

All these fantasies now hold to be true!
