The Moon

The skies had gathered

Their palette of colours.

Splashed tones of dark sapphire,

A quiet hush, a lull in the breeze.

The tide was even,

And the river so gentle.

Yearning for the moon,

Her eternal lover.

Each night she waited…

Countless times to the shore

She sauntered, lingered a Moment,

A soulful hymn on her trembling lips.

The moon too sighed

Behind the trees.

Waxing and waning,

Silently meditating.

Midst star-dust's magical allure

The moon birthed a full circle.

An orb of scintillating brilliance.

He caressed the dancing waves.

She smiled, bedazzled, silvery.

Her heaving bosom sparkled anew,

As she ascended to kiss the moon.

They waltzed all night until the morn.

I, too, watched that enchanting night

Waiting for my long-lost love’s return,

Rivers surged and eyes overflowed,

Held the moon and let him sink into me.
