The Fall Of Winter
/Inspired by the changing of seasons. In a county setting when written.
————
In the fall of winter
I watch upon the diminishing colors
Of nature’s cycles of life
As budding blooms slowly fade
Leaving a brown barren look,
Made spooky for Halloween
In its dormant stage.
I feel the cool breeze brush against me
as I gaze across the countryside
having cleared cornfields from summers harvest.
Anticipating the chill of winter to come,
I find closure here in the painted falling leaf’s
Bringing an end to summers delights
and the warmth of sunshine kisses.
The beginning of winters purity,
Brings a sense of calmness to me
as I reminisce on summers accomplishments and
the joy of another season
with its changing crayon colors
Carpeting the ground!
As nature prepares her-self for
the fall of winter!
