Stir Frying
/This poem borrows it's penultimate line from the 1895 nonsense poem by Gelett Burgess, "Purple Cow."
————
I have no use for lawyers
lest they’re fighting on my side
and win my case but don’t erase
what profits are applied,
or they convict the gangsters
whom we voted for with pride,
or creditors and pranksters
whom I simply can’t abide,
and though I’m writing just for fun,
(while on the run, I hide)
I’d rather be than see one—
I don’t want to be stir-fried.
