Poppa's Wealthy Investment

While studying in her private castle library Princess Lida comes across information about Paulie's other side and their misery loving company.

Sunday evening arrived and Princess Lida found herself memorizing her required texts, quietly inside the castle’s private library. Reading the passages and trying to recite the information challenged the student and the task started taking a physical toll.

“I need a break,” she realized closing the academic lesson.

Standing up venturing through the periodical aisles reading each catalogued title before coming across a leather bonded antique reference edition, the naïve mind seemed amazed when details highlighted each printed sheet. Gently pulling it off the shelf the Royal daughter noticed it was her grandfather’s memoir diary and returned to the table, placing the relic down carefully before leafing through the scrapbook style pages.

“What is this?” She questioned stopping at a certain entry, “my grandfather writes that Paulie’s other side was filled with anger and hatred.”

Taking a few seconds, digesting the contents, the young teen discovered they loved money more than life itself and wanted to start a corporation.

‘Too much control, in the big business setting,’ the grandfather wrote, ‘and the atmosphere is not worth it just to make a buck,’

“Such a shame,” Princess Lida noted the horrific greed that brought tension and destruction.

Next day, after completing the simple business economics ethics class designed for googling youth Princess Lida tracked down Paulie.

“I found my grandfather’s memoir diary last night,” she sat at the cafeteria picnic table, “and he wrote about your other side.”

“Oh yeah,” Paulie replied while Becky Sue put down her lunchtime tray, “they were miserable but loved the company they built.”

“They weren’t rich, Princess Lida,” Becky Sue clarified, “they were constantly in debt, that is why they had an awful outlook.”

“And then there were in-laws,” Paulie put down the straw and milk carton, “always looking for something and when they could not find it... Left.”

“Disappeared like vaudeville talent,” Becky Sue explained.

“So, what did Poppa do?” Princess Lida inquired.

Laughing Paulie started to exclaim, “he built a company on the other side,””

“My side,”

“Yes, Princess Lida, your side,” Becky Sue confirmed.

“And on our Independence Day, they held a tea party where everything got out of hand,”

Astounded Princess Lida wondered, “what happened?”

“Tell her Paulie, the honest truth,” Becky Sue backed him up.

“The in-laws along with their affluent friends arrived boasting and bragging to the point Poppa got a headache, after lying down, Momma gave him aspirin then told him write a check,”

“And then what happened?” Princess Lida’s eyes glistened.

“Things did not go the way they wanted,” Paulie continued, “and resentful jealous drinking started especially when they watched Poppa drop off deposits at the bank, they all wondered how his gardening profits?”

“In God we trust,” Becky Sue added.

“And a positive attitude,”

“Wow,” Princess Lida paused, “what happen to the business?”

“Poppa bought it from them, tore down the structure and built your castle,”

Starting to feel a little bit uneasy Princess Lida pursued wanting more information, “and where are they now?”

“They thanked him for paying off the debt and decided to fulfill the misery loves company tradition, taking the disappearing bow together,” Paulie answered, “we have not seen or heard from them in years.”

“Vanished like the magician assistant after finding out one too many secrets,” Becky Sue started rising, “moral of the story, Princess plant your seeds on Paulie’s side and off to the money market you will grow leaving everyone to a happy ending.”
