One More Day

I take my breath away. 

My heart slows down a beat. 

Dripping down a steady stream, 

Is it worth it?

The pain I’d bring my family, 

The heartbreak I’d leave my friends, 

All for a fleeting rest.

My belongings, 

My scent, My presence

Would linger in their memories, 

Haunting them, 

Bringing nothing but pain.

Is it worth it?

The darkness that would shadow them forever 

For a moment of quiet in my own head. 

The screams inside me, 

The torture of waking every day. 

In exchange for never laughing together, 

Never building memories, 

Never watching a sunrise side by side.

Is it worth it?

This little world of mine gives me strength, 

A spark of hope that whispers it’s not. 

Nothing is worse than not living my life to the fullest. 

Nothing is worth throwing away all I have.

If there’s a wall in front of me, 

I will break it. 

Because I carry something they can’t take away: 

Hope. Faith.

It is always worth fighting; 

For just one more day.
