One Day

One day you will meet someone who still has an attitude you gave up a long time ago when you saw that it brought about no progress to your life.

It will be a sign. A sign of how far you’ve come. A sign of progress.

A warrior once had to lie half naked in the bush for days for insects, scorpions, snakes and other strange reptiles to crawl over his body. For days he lay quiet while insects entered his eyes, nose and ears. The urge to rise, dust them off his body and crush them underfoot was strong. But he resisted the urge and restrained himself. He withheld himself from reacting throughout this spiritual fortification exercise and that marked the beginning of his indomitability in his future battles.

One day you will come to that point in your life where you can cleanly see the life you’ve always wanted to live. There will be insects: lovers you’ve broken up with, old friends with whom you used to live a lifestyle that took you no where, parents and other mentors who seem to know what’s better for you…

And like that warrior, you have to restrain yourself from reacting to certain criticisms. Restrain yourself from returning to relationships that have nothing to contribute to your evolution. Restrain yourself from going back to an old lifestyle that you have to let go in order to soar higher.

The warrior kept his eyes fixed on the benefits of holding on and didn’t allow himself be distracted.

Keep your eyes fixed on the great life you are headed towards and don’t let yourself be distracted by anything, no matter how strong the urge to give in becomes.

And don’t forget the patience of the warrior. You will need plenty of patience as you watch the seeds of your efforts in a project go down into the soil for many days with no sign of growth.

One day, the rains will come. And the grain that fell to the ground, trampled underfoot and forgotten, shall germinate and grow into a beautiful crop and bear hundreds of other grains.

One day.
