Oh, Holly Lady Of Fire

Oh, Holly Lady of Fire (chant for the soul)

In very ancient Celtic mythology, a goddess of pre-Christian Ireland named Brigit was the Lady of Fire, a "goddess of poets" and "woman of wisdom."

————

Oh, holly Lady of fire,

I ask you for light in darkness

to make me see through the eyes

of wise owl in a forest.

I ask you for light in a dark storm,

to guide the boats to the shore.

I ask you to give in the evening

a strong flame on the little candle

that shows the path in the winter blizzard

for the loving father to come safely home.

I ask for your light to sparkle

in the eyes of little children

and the face of every mother;

keep the fire of worming logs.

Oh, holly Lady of fire,

I ask you for light in darkness

to guide my soul when I am lost

in the life’s forest.
